ID Connect Information

Our school uses a finger identification system for Food Service accounts in place of a 4 digit pin number.  The system is called IDconnect.  The purpose of the system is to assist in ensuring a student’s pin number is not used in error with any food purchase.   In basic terms, the system will take a picture of your student’s finger then associate the picture with your student’s id number.  This is not a fingerprint system.  At no time does the system store any biometric information, finger prints, matrixes, or measurements. It cannot reproduce a finger print in any way.   Thanks to a patented software design, it cannot reproduce a fingerprint in any way. A match is made only when a finger is placed on the reader, and all data is kept securely on our local school network with multiple layers of passwords and encryption. During the initial enrollment, we gather a variable number of measurements to create a unique enrollment. The information is encrypted and cannot be used to recreate a fingerprint, ensuring your child's safety. We encourage you to learn more about this technology. You can visit the company’s website at www.fingerid.net to view video clips of its implementation in over 3,000 schools nationwide.

If you have concerns with this system you may choose to have your student opt out of using the system, therefore, your child can still use their current pin number.  To opt out of this system, please email Michelle Hopkins at mhopkins@isd361.org or call her at 283-2571 x1181 to request your student to not be included in this system.  When emailing please include your students name and current grade.

Thank you.
Sincerely,

Karla Olson-Line District Food Service Director
