International Falls school board approved a hybrid plan for the start of the 2020-21 school year earlier this week.  The approved plan has a focus on educating the students in our district to the best of our ability during this trying time with safety being paramount.  We understand that there are still many questions that remain on exactly how everything will roll out, but more information is will come shortly.  Elementary classes and teacher assignments are scheduled to be sent out early next week.  High school schedules will go live next week as well, just not sure exactly what day.  For each building there will be specific information on the slow roll out, back to school open house, distance learning (if it pertains), electronic devices distribution, transportation, and the list goes on.  We are also planning to start assembling the back to school mailing next week with the hopes of getting it out by the end of the week.  We appreciate your patience and understand the inconvenience of not knowing all the details.  Please feel free to contact the elementary or high school office if you have specific questions. Any family that is not comfortable with the hybrid model may choose 100% distance learning.

Falls Elementary School

September 8th – September 11th:  Students will not be in school, in essence still on summer break.  Childcare for Tier 1 families will be available these days along with food service in operation.  More information to come on food service during this time.

September 14th – September 18thSchool Starts on September 14th.  Kindergarten through grade 5 students will attend classes in person 2 days this week.  Your child’s schedule that will come out shortly will indicate that your child will attend Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday of this week.  The other days they will have work to complete while not in school.  Childcare will be available for Tier 1 families and food service will be operating.

Preschool will also open under a slow rollout this week.  Your child’s schedule will indicate which days your child will be in attendance this week (2 days the first week)

September 21st – September 25th :  All Falls Elementary students in preschool through grade 5 will be in session Monday through Friday of this week.  This schedule will continue as long as the district feels that our plan is working and the local Covid -19 situation does not dictate moving to a distance learning model.

Falls High School

September 8th – September 11th:  Students will not be in school, in essence still on summer break.  Food service in operation this week and information on this will be forthcoming.

September 14th – September 18thSchool Starts on September 14th  Students will attend in person learning 1 day this week and the rest of the week will be attending classes through the distance learning model.  Students will be assigned to attend on either Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday.  Under the distance learning model, students are expected to sign into their classes via zoom for each class hour for attendance and to hear the lecture, discussion, get directions, etc.  Once the teacher has completed their instruction, student may log out if desired and work on their school work.  They will zoom into each class throughout the day at the assigned start of the hour.  Days students are not in the building, food service will be available if desired.

September 21st – September 25th:  Students will attend classes in person 2 days and distance learn the other 3 days.  Students are broken into 2 groups and will regularly attend on Monday/Tuesday or Thursday/Friday.  Days students are not attending in person at Falls High School, they will be distance learning. Wednesday is a work day in which assignments will be given, but students do not need to virtually attend every hour.  It is meant to be a break from zooming with the exception of 1 check in for attendance purposes.  This schedule will continue as long as the district feels that our plan is working and the local Covid -19 situation does not dictate moving to a distance learning model.
